The main malfunctions of the car suspension

 Today more and more attention is paid to the reliability and comfort of the  suspension . With your comfort level in mind, carmakers build brand loyalty. Often, many cars are equipped with the so-called  "Rough Road Package" , which increases ground clearance, shock absorbers and springs. But it often happens that in modern realities, where the quality of roads leaves much to be desired, even such tricks do not allow the  suspension to  withstand the tests that the road presents to it. As a rule, everything ends with a  suspension repair .

Some malfunctions can be identified visually or by ear, others only with the help of a wizard and special equipment.

There are such  suspension faults :

  • violation of camber-convergence (installation angles) of the front wheels;

  • damage to the vehicle's suspension arms;

  • breakage of shock absorber springs or significant decrease in stiffness;

  • leakage, wear or damage to the shock absorbers of the front and rear suspension;

  • damage, wear of the upper mounts of shock absorbers;

  • wear of stabilizer bushings, stabilizer struts (heavy), deformation of the anti-roll bar;

  • wear and tear of various rubber-metal or hinged suspension elements of your car.

Suspension malfunctions

The above malfunctions can occur for a variety of reasons. Most often it is the quality of the roads in your city, the driver's carelessness (and more often the driving style), the installation of low-quality suspension parts, and unqualified car maintenance at the service station. These factors significantly reduce the life of your vehicle's suspension parts, directly (as in the case of low-quality parts and unqualified maintenance) or indirectly (in the case of bad roads and driver inattention). The service station https://megaservice.by/diagnostika-remont-podveski/  recommends installing only  high-quality parts  in proven car services, and also encourages drivers to be careful while driving, to monitor the traffic situation.

Suspension parts of your car  can break suddenly (most often when hitting an obstacle, hole or in an accident), or fail gradually (natural wear of parts). However, it should be noted that timely detection, diagnosis and elimination of a malfunction will not only maintain your usual level of comfort, but also protect you. After all, the failure of one part will certainly entail an increased rate of wear and tear on other parts of the suspension of your car. In the end, suspension repairs can cost a lot.

The main  signs that may indicate a  malfunction of the suspension  include:

  • deviation of the car to the side when driving;

  • rocking the car when cornering or braking;

  • vibrations transmitted to the body;

  • knocks or squeaks in the harness;

  • "Punching" the suspension (feeling that there are no damping suspension elements)

  • uneven tire wear, or increased.

This list is not exhaustive. The appearance of one or more signs is a reason to call in for the diagnosis of the suspension, as well as the steering.

It should also be noted that a number of the listed symptoms can occur due to  deviations in the performance of the wheels  (tire pressure, balancing, tire wear, wheel bearings in the end). Low tire pressure can cause the vehicle to drift to the side, accompanied by vibrations when driving. An improperly balanced wheel also causes vibration and sometimes knocking in the suspension.
